Are you a driven, self-motivated sales professional with a passion for building strong client relationships and making a meaningful impact! My client is seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager (BDM) to join theirr growing team and help expand their footprint across New Zealand.

About the Role
 
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the BDM plays a pivotal role in driving growth through the acquisition of new customers. You’ll be out in the field building relationships, submitting proposals and tenders, and attending related conferences to raise awareness of their brand and solutions. Once onboarded, you’ll support the transition of these customers to our Account Management team, ensuring continuity of service and customer satisfaction.
 
This is a hands-on sales role where your ability to engage with stakeholders, understand their needs, and articulate our value proposition will be critical to success.
 
What You’ll Be Doing:
 
New Business Development
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to grow the pipeline of new clients
  • Proactively identify opportunities, initiate contact with key decision-makers, and present tailored solutions
  • Prepare and submit proposals and tenders in a timely and professional manner
  • Attend conferences and networking events to generate leads and build awareness
Client Onboarding & Transition
  • Own the client relationship through the onboarding phase and ensure a seamless handover to an Account Manager
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to align client needs with service delivery
  • Ensure a high standard of customer experience is maintained during all stages of the sales cycle
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
  • Participate actively in weekly new business planning meetings, sharing updates, insights, and next steps
  • Accurately report on business-related expenses and comply with internal policies and sales protocols
  • Proactively communicate client expectations, challenges and feedback to the wider team
Brand Advocacy & Professionalism
  • Represent the business professionally at all times, maintaining a positive and solutions-oriented approach
  • Handle customer issues or concerns with tact and urgency, escalating appropriately
  • Support the broader team and leadership with other business-related tasks as required
About You
 
We’re looking for someone with:
  • Demonstrated experience in a B2B sales or business development role (experience in the retail/apparel or service delivery sectors highly regarded)
  • A confident communicator with the ability to engage leaders and decision-makers
  • Proven track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Highly organised with strong proposal/tender writing skills
  • Collaborative and proactive mindset, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • A clean driver’s licence and willingness to travel across NZ
  • A positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude
