My client is a high-growth, private equity-backed services group headquartered in the heart of Sydney CBD. With rapid expansion underway, they’re now looking for a dynamic, hands-on Financial Controller who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help shape the future of their finance function from the ground up.
About The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a rare greenfield opportunity to build a world-class, scalable accounting and reporting infrastructure. The Financial Controller will be the cornerstone of financial operations bringing clarity, control, and commercial insight to support their aggressive growth agenda.
You’ll be responsible for everything from standing up systems and processes, to producing investor-grade reports, leading the audit process, and embedding a culture of excellence across the finance team. PE reporting experience is non-negotiable, you’ll be working closely with the investors and need to be comfortable in that space from day one.

Key Responsibilities
- Establish a scalable, best-practice accounting and reporting environment
- Deliver accurate, timely financial reports and analysis
- Implement real-time, system-driven reporting tools across financial and operational data
- Maintain strong compliance with AASB and tax reporting requirements
- Lead all aspects of accounting: revenue, accruals, AP/AR, payroll, lease accounting, and more
- Oversee treasury and risk functions, including cash flow and working capital management
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning
- Manage relationships with external auditors, lenders, and tax advisors
- Develop and mentor a high-performing finance team, instilling a culture of ownership and transparency
The Financial Controller will play a significant role as 2IC, driving the implementation of new systems and processes as the business continues to rapidly grow. To be successful in the role, you’ll have the following skills and experience.
Key Requirements
- CA or CPA qualified
- Big 4 audit background strongly preferred
- 10+ years’ experience as a financial controller
- Strong private equity reporting experience
- Through understanding of Australian Tax & Accounting standards.
- Track record in ERP implementation and M&A accounting
- Sharp commercial acumen and strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder management and team leadership skills
