About the Role
The Head of Finance will take ownership of the end-to-end finance function, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and compliant financial outcomes while providing strategic support to the executive team. This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing technical excellence with people management and stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with Australian accounting standards, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Managing the full budgeting and forecasting cycle, delivering insightful variance analysis and clear reporting to inform executive decision-making
- Overseeing statutory and regulatory compliance requirements, including coordination of external audits and timely lodgement of obligations
- Driving strong financial governance through robust internal controls, effective general ledger management, and process improvement initiatives
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of six finance professionals across accounts receivable, payroll, and accounting, both locally and offshore
- Delivering high-quality monthly management reporting packs to support CEO and COO reviews, providing commercial insights and recommendations
- Supporting audit preparation and execution, ensuring readiness and smooth delivery
- Maintaining and enhancing existing Excel-based reporting while identifying opportunities to strengthen tools, systems, and reporting capability
- Coordinating with offshore accounts payable and payroll teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of transactions
You are a commercially minded and hands-on finance leader who thrives in a people-focused environment. With a strong technical foundation and proven leadership capability, you bring both the expertise and the interpersonal skills to guide a team through a period of change and ensure continuity of operations.
Key attributes include:
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards, with the ability to apply these in a practical, business-focused way
- CA/CPA qualification, underpinned by a strong record of achievement in finance leadership roles
- Experience in aged care, health, or not-for-profit sectors highly regarded, with an understanding of the unique funding, compliance, and reporting requirements
- A pragmatic, approachable leadership style that balances people management with operational delivery
- Strong Excel and reporting skills, with the ability to enhance existing reporting frameworks; exposure to systems such as Epicor and Monday.com advantageous
- Demonstrated success in managing and developing small finance teams, including coordinating with offshore resources
- A collaborative communicator who can engage effectively with senior stakeholders, including the CEO, COO, and external auditors
- Full-time availability to work onsite at the South West Sydney office (with convenient onsite parking)
