My client is a high-growth, private equity-backed services group headquartered in the heart of Sydney CBD. With rapid expansion underway, they're now looking for a dynamic, hands-on Senior Financial Accountant who's ready to roll up their sleeves and help shape the future of their finance function.
About The Role
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role will support accurate financial reporting, compliance, and month-end processes while contributing to continuous improvement across accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of accounting standards, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to financial governance and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive month-end and year-end close activities for all entities across the Group, including preparation and review of complex journals (accruals, prepayments, allocations) and detailed Balance Sheet / GL reconciliations
- Manage processing of key invoices and calculations, applying a strong understanding of business unit operations
- Prepare and provide data for external audits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of responses
- Oversee the operational implementation of project ledger policies and ensure ongoing compliance
- Address reporting queries from researchers, providing accurate and timely financial support
- Contribute to the rollout of new systems and accounting processes, helping to embed best practice
- FBT & BAS Returns preparations and submissions
- Apply finance policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen governance and compliance
You are a detail-oriented and technically strong Senior Financial Accountant who enjoys working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, you are confident working both independently and as part of a team. You take pride in delivering accurate results, supporting process improvements, and contributing to organisational goals. You will have a strong background in a chartered accounting firm, in either a Big 4 or a Mid-Tier firm, where you developed strong technical skills (IFRS / AASB)
The Requirements
- CA/CPA qualified
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (AASB/IFRS)
- Self-starter. Independent. Autonomous work style. Can prioritise competing deadlines well
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards
- Confident with Excel and ERP systems, Netsuite is advantageous
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in a commercial environment (outside of audit) is essential

- Hybrid working model of 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
